Young Alumni Achievement Award

Jason Lamers BS ’98

Awarded to an alumnus or alumna within ten years of graduation to recognize outstanding personal or professional achievement.

n his years at Texas Wesleyan, Jason Lamers was a leader. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity and served as presidentfrom 1997 to 1998. He was involved with the Rambler as news editor, reporter and photographer. In 1998 he was also elected “Mr. Texas Wesleyan” by the student body.

Lamers received his bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1998 and his
master’s in public administration from the University of North Texas in
2002. He began work for DFW Community Newspapers covering city
governments and local news for Lewisville, Flower Mound, Coppell, and
Highland Village. He also worked for the Colleyville News and Times and
in 2000 began work as a Public Information Officer at the City of Fort
Worth Public Health Department.

He continues to be a leader in Fort Worth, currently serving as Public
Information Officer for the City of Fort Worth Mayor and City Council.
He has been honored by the Fort Worth Public Health Department with
an Exemplary Employee Award for activities conducted in response to
hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. He has recently been accepted to the
Leadership Fort Worth Program Class of 2008.

Lamers lives in Fort Worth with his wife Kelli and daughter Chloe.
