RAMS TO HOST GOLF BENEFIT

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team will hold a golf tournament at the Links at Waterchase on October 18.  All proceeds will benefit the baseball program.

RUSTY GREER JOINS TEXAS WESLEYAN COACHING STAFF

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University head baseball coach Mike Jeffcoat announced today the hiring of Texas Rangers Hall of Famer Rusty Greer as an assistant coach.

LACKEY SIGNS WITH DETROIT TIGERS

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University’s Hayden Lackey has signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Tigers.  Lackey who holds numerous school records will travel to Lakeland, FL, on Wednesday to join the Tigers’ rookie league team.

SEASON FOR THE BOOKS

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team had one the program’s most successful seasons in 2008.  The Rams’ 42 wins were the third most in school history and the most since 1978 (52).  Texas Wesleyan finished third in Region VI, trailing only top ranked Lubbock Christian and fifth ranked Oklahoma City.  The team also set or tied 25 school records.

Butch Ballez led the team with a .418 batting average while ranking second with 18 2B's, 9 HR's, 61 RBI, and 82 H's.
