MARSHALL, Texas - Texas Wesleyan
made 11 three-pointers on its way to a 113-79 victory over Wiley
College in the Rams' Red River Athletic Conference opener Saturday
evening.
Texas
Wesleyan (2-4, 1-0 RRAC) raced out to a 47-34 halftime lead and outscored the
Wildcats 68-45 in the second half to run away with the game.
Senior
Tommy Johnson led the Rams with 22 points, while junior Brad Schilder chipped
in with 20 points and eight rebounds. Junior Ben Hunt added 18 points, which included
4-of-5 shooting from behind the arc, to go along with his eight rebounds and five
assists.
Sylvester Simple led Wiley College
with 13 points.
Texas Wesleyan shot 64 percent
(45-71) from the field and 58 percent (14-24) from the charity stripe. The Rams
also shot 65 percent (11-17) from the three-point line.
Wiley
College shot 40 percent (31-78) from the floor and 57 percent (13-23) from the
free-throw line. The Wildcats also shot 14 percent (4-28) from behind the arc.
Texas
Wesleyan will be back in action Monday when they take on conference-foe Jarvis
Christian College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Hawkins, Texas. Jarvis defeated
the Rams, 73-67, last season in Hawkins.
