| OLATHE,
Kan. - Senior Tommy Johnson was named to the second team of the NAIA All-American
team on Tuesday morning. Members are selected by an all-american committee comprised
of coaches from around the country.
Johnson
led the team in scoring and rebounds, averaging 20.9 points a game and pulling
down 7.7 boards a game. The 20.9 points a contest was good enough to rank him
sixth in the nation. Johnson registered six double-doubles and had nine games
with 25 or more points. The Oklahoma City, Okla. native broke the school's single-season
record for three-pointers made with 109, and the school record for steals in a
season with 80.
Tommy also helped lead Texas
Wesleyan to a 20-12 record, before getting knocked out in the semifinals of the
Red River Athletic Tournament in Waxahachie last week. The 20 wins were the second
most for Wesleyan since the 1988-89 season.
Also
making the second team was fellow RRAC-opponent Ricky Bennett of Houston Baptist.
