RAMS STARTING FIVE NAMED ALL-RRAC
March 4, 2006

DALLAS, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team currently features five players averaging double-figures in scoring.  On Saturday, all five were named to the All-Red River Athletic Conference Team.

Ben Hunt (Sr., Bendigo, Australia) was a 1st-team selection for the second consecutive year and was named Co-Player of the Year with Houston Baptist’s Dwight Jones II.  Hunt has been named RRAC Player of the Week an amazing six times this season including a stretch of three consecutive P.O.W. awards.  He is tied for 14th on Texas Wesleyan’s all-time scoring list with 1,080 points in just two seasons.  He has reached double-figures in scoring in 26-of-29 games this season and has hit at least one three-pointer in 28-of-29 games including each of the last 26 contests.  On Thursday, he scored a career-high 33 points in the Red River Athletic Conference tournament.  His currently holds six school records including career three-point percentage, three-pointers, and free throw percentage.

Khayri McKinney (Sr., Del Rio, TX) joined Hunt on the 1st-team All-RRAC.  McKinney ranks second on the team with 13.6 points and 30.6 minutes per game while leading the squad with 119 assists and 40 steals.  He has reached double-figures in scoring 20 times while scoring 20 or more on eight occasions.  He was named RRAC Player of the Week in November after scoring 21 points in an exhibition game at NCAA Division I Stephen F. Austin.  He scored a career-high 30 points against Huston-Tillotson (1/9), and went for 29 points against Oklahoma City (11/8).  His career 46.3% three-point shooting ranks second all-time at Texas Wesleyan.

Nino Etienne (Jr., Panama City, Panama) earned 2nd-team honors for his outstanding play this season.  Etienne has been one of the Rams most consistent performers and their best shutdown defender this season.  He has reached double-figures in scoring 22 times this season, including the last ten games in a row, and has recorded six double-doubles.  He scored a career high 24 while gabbing 12 rebounds in a 76-70 win over SAGU earlier this week.  Etienne currently leads the team with 57.4% shooting from the field and 7.1 rebounds per game while ranking third with 12.2 points per game.  His career 59.2% shooting is a Texas Wesleyan record.

Evan Patterson (Jr., Cedar Hill, TX) joined Etienne on the 2nd-team.  Patterson has had an outstanding season, reaching double-figures in scoring 19 times.  He has recorded four double-doubles including 16 points and 12 rebounds in an 83-80 win over Houston Baptist (2/11).  He scored a career-high 25 points against Texas A&M International (1/14).  He ranks second on the team with 6.9 rebounds per game and 83.6% free throw shooting while ranking fourth with 12.1 points per game.

Scott Reasoner (Sr., Fort Worth, TX) earned Honorable Mention All-RRAC honors for his play in his senior season.  Reasoner ranks second on the team with 52.3% shooting from the field while leading the squad with 17 blocked shots and ranking fifth with 10.4 points per game.  He was named RRAC Player of the Week in January after averaging 17 points and shooting 55% (17-31) in three conference wins.  He has reached double-figures in scoring 17 times this season and has recorded a pair of double-doubles.  He scored a season-high 19 points in a win over Texas College (1/25) and recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds in a win over UT-Permian Basin (1/16).  He scored 13 points in a 76-69 exhibition win over NCAA Division I Southeastern Louisiana.
