AUSTIN, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (17-8, 10-5 RRAC) suffered an 88-60 loss at Huston-Tillotson University (7-18, 6-9) on Monday.
Huston-Tillotson came out firing from beyond the arc. H-TU hit 8-of-19 three-point attempts in the first half, and three three’s in the final two minutes allowed them to pull away for a 41-28 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Texas Wesleyan was never able to put together a sizable run as Huston-Tillotson ripped off five more three’s and forced 13 turnovers.
Huston-Tillotson scored 39 points from long range and added 26 points off of 23 Texas Wesleyan turnovers.
CJ Higginbotham was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and finished with 15 points to lead the Rams. Evan Patterson added 14 points and Roald Raymond recorded a career-high 10 points.
KC Asomugha led Huston-Tillotson with 26 points including 5-of-8 three pointers. Doug Krause added four treys and 16 points.
For the game, Huston-Tillotson shot 53% while Texas Wesleyan shot 41% from the field. Texas Wesleyan won the battle of the boards 36-31.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action on Wednesday, when they host Jarvis Christian College. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center. |
