FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head men’s basketball coach Terry Waldrop announced today the signing of Aaron Scott, a 6’6” guard from Nicholls State University.
“We are excited about Aaron joining our team this year,” Waldrop commented. “He is very versatile and is going to be a very big impact player for us.”
Scott, who will be a senior on the Rams 2007-08 roster, played one season for head coach JP Piper at Nichols State after transferring from East Tennessee State University. He played in 16 games, making 13 starts for the Colonels last season, and averaged 8.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He averaged 16.5 points per game in his first four contests last season including a career high 24 against the University of Washington.
In two seasons at East Tennessee State, Scott played in 57 games and helped lead the Buccaneers to a Southern Conference Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2004.
A native of Houma, LA, Scott played at H.L. Bourgeois High School where he earned All-District, All-Region, and Honorable Mention All-State recognition and was a candidate for the McDonald’s All-America team.
After winning the 2006 NAIA Division I National Championship, Texas Wesleyan posted a 19-10 record and was ranked 33rd nationally at the end of the 2006-07 season.
