FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (14-27) improved to 13-7 in Red River Athletic Conference play after sweeping a doubleheader from Texas College (5-15, 15-15 RRAC) on Tuesday. The Rams took game one 16-0 and game two 8-0.
The Rams put game one well out of reach in the first inning. They plated eleven runs on seven hits, including a two-run homer from Ariel Raley, and five Texas College errors.
The Rams added four runs in the third and one more in the fourth for the 16-0 final score.
Taylor Wood (1-7) picked up the win after allowing two hits and two walks while striking out seven in a complete-game five inning shutout.
Nataly Chavez was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate while Wood helped herself by going 3-for-4.
In game two, the Rams scored single runs in every inning except the fifth when they put three runs on the board.
Ashley Oldham (5-11) lowered her ERA to 4.04 by shutting the Steers out for six innings. She allowed just three hits while striking out five.
Brooke McNabb went 3-for-4 including a two-run double in the fifth inning. Raley, Haley Butler, and Lateah Lucero each added a pair of hits as well.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Jarvis Christian College. Game one of that doubleheader is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start. |
