LADY RAMS ROMP OVER BULLDOGS:

TARRANT FIRES SECOND NO-HITTER
April 23, 2008

Box Score - Game One

Box Score - Game Two

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (16-27, 15-7 RRAC) had another record setting doubleheader against Jarvis Christian College (0-18, 0-18).  The Rams swept the doubleheader with scores of 13-0 and 27-0.

In game one, the Lady Rams needed just 57 minutes to score 13 runs on 12 hits.  Texas Wesleyan scored five runs on four hits, including doubles from Taylor Wood, Elizabeth Brady, and Lateah Lucero in the second inning.

Doubles from Bardy and Alyssa Cherry in the third brought the score to 7-0.  The Rams added six more runs on six hits, two walks, and an error in the fourth for the 13-0 final.

Ashley Oldham (6-11) was too much to handle for the Bulldogs.  The sophomore hurler allowed just two hits while striking out ten in a complete game five-inning effort.

Elizabeth Brady went 3-for-3 at the plate with a school record tying three doubles in game one.

The Rams really started breaking records in the second contest.  The first ten hitters the Rams sent to the plate scored in the first inning.  Lateah Lucero led off with a triple and later hit a two-run double in the inning.

After getting a pair of unearned runs in the second, the Rams batted around twice in the third inning, scoring 14 runs on 13 hits and five Jarvis errors.  One more run in the fourth inning gave Texas Wesleyan a school record 27 runs.

For the second time in a week Ashley Tarrant (4-3) no-hit the Bulldogs.  Tarrant also tied the school record with 14 strikeouts in the contest.  Tarrant is the third Lady Ram in school history to reach 14 k’s in a game.

Every hitter in the starting lineup had at least two hits and at least two runs scored.  Sabrina Davison became the third Lady Ram in school history to collect five hits in a game, going 5-for-5 with three RBI and four runs scored.  Lucero was 3-for-5 with a double, triple, four RBI, and four runs scored.

The Lady Rams will travel to Langston, OK, to take on Langston University on Thursday.  Game one of that doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
