FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head women’s soccer coach Josh Gibbs announced today the signing of Alejandra Barrera, an attacking center-mid out of Hill College.
Barrera led Hill College to a 13-5-3 record after scoring 19 goals and adding 12 assists. Her total of 50 points also ranked 23rd nationally (NJCAA Division I).
“We are very excited and fortunate to have Alejandra joining us,” Gibbs commented. “Once we secured improvements on the defensive side, our main focus became being dangerous in the final third. Alejandra is a great addition to our already strong central midfield. She sees the game very well from the attacking center-mid spot. The great thing about her is that she also scores goals. She is a very well rounded attacking center-mid. Pairing her with Brianna [McKernon] makes us very dangerous. I believe the addition of Alejandra to our already outstanding recruiting class makes us a very complete and very dangerous team. I am tremendously excited about next season and our pursuit of a third conference championship in four years”.
The Lady Rams who have won two of the last three Red River Athletic Conference championships, finished at 8-7-3 this season. They featured six All-Conference players including three seniors.
