RAMS BLAST WARRIORS:

SET REBOUNDING RECORD
December 17, 2007

Box Score

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (7-4) set a school record with 65 rebounds on their way to a 92-61 romp over Wesley College (8-9) at the Sid Richardson Center on Monday.

The Rams simply had too much size for the Warriors who had just one player taller than 6’3”.  Texas Wesleyan dominated the glass 65-22 while out scoring Wesley 46-22 in the paint.

In the first half, Hector Mukweyi and Kennith Gober combined for nine unanswered points as the Rams pulled ahead 28-19.

Texas Wesleyan led 43-30 at the break, and started the second half with a 16-4 run.  The Rams led by as many as 37, 90-53, on their way to the 92-58 blow out.

Four Rams reached double-figures in scoring while three reached double-figures in rebounding.  Mukweyi had an outstanding night with 16 points and 19 rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench.  Fred Eshon offset nine Wesley three-pointers with four of his own and finished with a game-high 21 points.  Gober scored 20 for Texas Wesleyan and Andy Laitinen put up 12.  Ryan Barnes added seven points and 13 rebounds while Dane Dmitrovic pulled down 12 boards.

The Rams will return to action on Wednesday, December 19, when they travel to San Antonio, TX, for an exhibition contest with the UT-San Antonio Roadrunners.  That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
