LADY RAMS FALL IN SEASON OPENER |

BETHANY, OK: In the first game of the 2008 season, a young Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (0-1) suffered a 3-1 loss at Southern Nazarene University (1-0).
The Crimson Storm prevailed with nail biting scores of 25-23, 25-21, 24-26, and 25-23.
Brittney Person led the Lady Rams offense with 14 kills to go with 17 digs and six service aces.. Kristen Venhuizen had seven kills, 10 digs, and four blocks. Rachel Daniel posted a team-high six blocks. Freshman Emily Millican posted 32 assists, while another freshman, Katlynn Romig had 29 digs.
“We played a tough, scrappy match,” commented head coach Christy Clawson, “but we showed our youth and just couldn’t finish.”
The Lady Rams will have no time to dwell on the loss. They will play in the Oklahoma City Classic Friday and Saturday. They will take on St. Gregory’s University at 9:00 a.m. on Friday followed by a match with College of the Ozarks at 1:00 p.m. |
