DENTON, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (1-6) lost a pair of matches at the Texas Woman’s University tournament on Friday. Twelfth ranked (NCAA Division II) Pittsburg State University (4-1) topped the Lady Rams 3-0 before Cameron University prevailed by the same score in the nightcap.
In the morning match, the Rams ran into a high-powered Pittsburg State team. The Gorillas won with scores of 25-13, 25-9, and 25-19.
Brittney Person led the Rams with match-high 12 kills, while Emily Millican had match-high 26 assists. Chelsy Covington and Katlynn Romig had 11 and 10 digs respectively.
Cameron won the night game with scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-15.
Person posted a team-high six kills, while Millican finished with 16 assists. Romig notched 17 digs while Kristen Venhuizen added 14 of her own.
The Lady Rams will continue action at the Texas Woman’s Tournament on Saturday. They will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 2:00 p.m. and the host team at 4:00 p.m. |
