Box Score - vs. Texas Woman's
DENTON, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (1-8) lost its final two matches at the Texas Woman’s University tournament. The Rams dropped a hard fought 3-1 decision to Southeastern Oklahoma State University (6-1) before succumbing to the hosting Pioneers (4-4) in a thrilling five-game match.
In the first match of the day, SOSU won with scores of 25-17, 18-25, 25-16, and 26-24.
Camille Burrhus-Clay led the Rams with 11 kills. Emily Millican added 22 assists and 14 digs, while Katlynn Romig had 19 digs.
Against Texas Woman’s, the Rams got off the deck from a 25-10 loss in game one to make the Pioneers earn a 25-23 win in game two. Texas Wesleyan then took game three 25-22, and forced a decisive set with a 25-20 win in game four. In the final game, three hitting errors put the Rams in an 11-7 hole, and the Pioneers went on to a 15-9 win.
Brittney Person posted 17 kills for the Rams. Millican notched another double-double with 45 assists and 10 digs. Romig finished with 21 digs.
Texas Wesleyan returns to the court next weekend when they travel to Hastings, NE, for the Hastings College Tournament. They will begin action on Friday against Doane College at 2:00 p.m. followed by a match with Hastings at 8:00 p.m. |
