LADY RAMS SPLIT HARD FOUGHT MATCHES

Box Score - vs. Lubbock Christian

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (2-14) split a pair of matches at their own Hughes-Wesleyan Classic on Friday.  The Rams topped Faulkner University (7-5) 3-2, and then fell by the same score to Lubbock Christian University (12-1).

 

Against Faulkner, the Lady Rams took game one 25-13, only to see the Eagles storm back in games two and three (25-15, 25-20).  Texas Wesleyan then took a narrow 25-21 win in game four and closed out the match with a 15-11 win in game five.

Brittney Person led the Rams with 10 kills, while Emily Millican notched 30 assists and 14 digs.  Katlynn Romig finished with a match-high 24 digs.  Destiny Clemmons was also solid with 10 kills, six assists, and four blocks.

Against Lubbock Christian, the Rams appeared to be in trouble after a 25-7 loss in game one.  However, Texas Wesleyan came right back for a 25-23 win in game two.  The Chapps took game three 25-11, but the Rams leveled the score with a 25-16 game four win.  In game five, the Chapps took the early lead and cruised to a 15-7 win.

 

Kristen Vehuizen had 10 kills to lead Texas Wesleyan.  Millican posted another double-double with 27 assists and 13 digs.  Romig notched 14 digs.

 

In other action at the tournament Lubbock Christian topped Wiley 3-2, Southwestern Assemblies of God (SAGU) defeated Faulkner 3-0 , John Brown beat Missouri Valley 3-0 and Wiley 3-1, Oklahoma City took 3-0 wins over SAGU and Faulkner.

 

Texas Wesleyan will continue action in the Hughes-Wesleyan Classic on Saturday.  They will take on John Brown University at 12:00 p.m. and Oklahoma City University at 4:00 p.m.
