Click here for complete tournament results Box Score - vs. John Brown Box Score - vs. Oklahoma City FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (2-15) played two very tight matches, but suffered a pair of 3-1 losses at their own Hughes-Wesleyan Classic on Saturday. The Rams were defeated by John Brown University (8-5) and Oklahoma City University (18-3).
Against John Brown, neither team could gain any separation. The Golden Eagles won with scores of 25-21, 24-26, 32-30, and 25-23. Three Lady Rams reached double-figures in kills. Kristen Venhuizen led the way with 13 kills while Brittney Person and Destiny Clemmons each had 10. Emily Millican posted 43 saves and 30 digs.
Against Oklahoma City, the Rams jumped ahead with a 25-22 win in game one. The Stars came back with a 25-14 win in game two and then took a heartbreaking 26-24 win in game three. OCU then closed out the match with a 25-19 win in game four.
Person posted 12 kills in the loss. Millican had 35 assists and 16 digs. Katlynn Romig notched 23 digs.
The Lady Rams will return to action with a demanding road trip on Saturday, September 27. They will take on Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, TX, at 4:00 p.m. and Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX, at 7:30 p.m. |
In other tournament action, Wiley College took 3-0 wins over SAGU and Missouri Valley, Oklahoma City topped Missouri Valley 3-0, Lubbock Christian took 3-0 wins over Faulkner and SAGU, and Faulkner defeated John Brown 3-2.The Rams Online was created by College Sports Online, Inc.
