RAMS EARN WEEKLY RRAC HONORS
October 6, 2008

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University’s Rachel Daniel has been named Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Hitter of the Week for the period of September 29-October 5.  Daniel’s teammates Emily Millican and Katlynn Romig took Setter and Libero of the Week honors.

 

Daniel, a sophomore middle blocker from Burleson, TX, posted 21 kills in a 1-2 week for the Lady Rams.  She had 10 kills in 15 total attempts in a loss to Tarleton State University (TX), and she blasted four kills in their conference opening victory over Paul Quinn College (TX).  Daniel registered a kill percentage of .372 as Texas Wesleyan ran its record to 3-19 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

 

Millican, a freshman setter from Red Oak, TX, averaged 8.5 assists per game as the Lady Rams battled through three matches.  She compiled a high of 37 assists against Texas Woman’s University and was credited with 27 more against Tarleton State.  Millican also had 38 digs.


Romig, a freshman defender from Mansfield, TX, accounted for 63 digs for Texas Wesleayn last week including 38 in the defeat to Texas Woman’s.  She averaged 7.0 digs per game with only three receiving errors in 55 total attempts.  Romig also pounded out three service aces. 

 

Brittani Toole of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (TX) claimed the Player of the Week award while her teammate, Rachel Brown, was named Co-Setter of the Week.

 

The Lady Rams will travel to Waxahachie, TX, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Tuesday, October 7.  That conference match up set for a 7:00 pm start.  Lady Rams return home on Friday, October 17, when they take on UT-Brownsville at 2:00 p.m. and Huston-Tillotson University at 6:00 p.m. at their RRAC Crossover Tournament.
