Teaching Award

Dr. Mary Anne Clark

Professor of Biology, School of Arts and Sciences

Clark has been on the faculty of Texas Wesleyan University for 30 years and has excelled in her teaching during this period of time. She has taught biology courses to both majors and non-majors and has advised numerous biology majors and pre-med students as well. During the last several years Clark has learned bioinformatics and merged it with three of her genetics courses. Additionally, she has created Genome Island, a virtual Second Life laboratory and has added online courses to her class preparations. She has greatly expanded her knowledge, her work load, and her students’ educational opportunities. She always puts the students as her first priority and creates new ways to expand their learning and their love for biology.

Scholarship Award

Dr. Sameer Vaidya

Associate Dean, School of Business

Vaidya has several publications in refereed journals and refereed conference publications.  He has also made numerous conference presentations and has served as a session chair or discussant at several conferences. Vaidya's six refereed journal publications is at least two times the normal requirement for tenure consideration within our school. That accomplishment combined with his other scholarship while having serve as associate dean during two years of his tenure probationary period are what make his accomplishments exceptional.

Academic Support Award

Ms. Judy Arnold

Burleson Campus Site Coordinator

Arnold has been instrumental in the successful implementation of the Burleson site.  When we assigned Arnold to this job, we knew she would do a good job, yet we had no idea of the impact that she would have on the program and the Burleson community.  Arnold has infused herself in the Burleson and Johnson County community by becoming part of the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. In addition, she serves in the Education Committee of the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce and the Majors Committee on Strengthening Families Initiative. Her interaction with students and the community at large have been instrumental in the increased enrollment and reputation of the site. Finally, Arnold is fully committed to the success of the Burleson site and will take every step and make every effort to ensure that the Wesleyan Burleson site is successful.

Academic Support Award

Mr. Everett Chambers

Director of Academic Support, School of Law

Chambers has been instrumental in the success of many law students as they study law and as they prepare for the bar exam. Chambers is an alumnus of our Law School, he is a minister, and he is a gifted teacher. In the Academic Support program, Chambers directs a lawyer assistant and numerous student assistants, who conduct weekly academic support classes for the entire first-year class. He and his assistant also teach a weekly class for students who are on probation—usually about a dozen students. As an adjunct professor,  Chambers teaches a very popular class called Preparing for the Bar Exam; this spring, the class had more than 100 students. Chambers’ efforts for our students are exemplary. The students are very grateful to him; he becomes their friend, advocate, and confidant.
