Childs Commissioned as Probationary Elder

At the Central Texas Annual Conference in June, Gladys Childs, University chaplain, was commissioned as a probationary elder in the United Methodist Church. Elders are those whose "leadership in service includes preaching and teaching the Word of God, administration of the sacraments, ordering the Church for its mission and service, and administration of the Discipline of the Church" (2004 Book of Discipline) and as a probationary elder, Childs is a three-year waiting period before becoming a full elder and completing her ordination.

Maloney to be Assistant to the Dean

Lisa Maloney will be joining the School of Education as the Assistant to the Dean beginning Monday, July 21. She will be replacing Bobbie Price, who is moving on to her new career in education. Maloney previously worked in the Registrar's Office at Texas Wesleyan.

Missing Plaque

The President's Office is looking for a plaque engraved with "The Grandchildren of Rev. M.K. Little" that was created in 1979. The plaque, which was displayed in the administration building, was in honor of a gift of a tree for the campus. If anyone has seen the plaque or knows its whereabouts, please contact Norma Vallejo at 817-531-4401.
