As indicated on your Notice of Financial Aid Award, you are eligible for a Federal Stafford Loan. To receive your loan proceeds, you must first activate the loan online. To begin the process, go to:
https://lbw.tgslc.org/LBW/start.do
- Indicate option of student borrower then log in using your SSN and birth date.
- Select Complete a Loan Award then choose an award. You may accept all of the loans that you are eligible for, decline any loan you do not want to receive, or reduce the amount of your loan. Our office will be notified of any changes that you make to your loan eligibility. You cannot increase the amount of your student loan through Loans by Web. Contact the Office of Financial Aid if you wish to discuss options for additional funding. If you previously began the process and were unable to finish, these loans will also be shown so that you may complete the loan process.
- Entrance Counseling: First time students may have to complete online entrance counseling. To do so, click the entrance counseling link on the left. Once finished with counseling, keep handy the confirmation number verifying your completion. If you are unable to print your Master Promissory Note, TGSLC will mail one to you for completion, you must return it to your lender.
- Personal Information: Enter your personal information as indicated. If you are a continuing student and have received a Stafford loan from your University, your information should already be available, and you may update as needed.
- References: Enter or review your reference information, including address and phone numbers.
- Lender Selection: You must choose a lender for processing your Stafford Loan. It is very important for you to always use the same lender. If you received a loan previously, your lender will be shown. If you previously completed a Master Promissory Note and you will borrow from the same lender, you are not required to print and mail a new MPN. On the right side of this page we have provided a list of lenders with whom we have full electronic processing and who are most commonly used by students at Wesleyan.
You may search for and choose a lender not already listed. If the lender you want to use to process your Stafford Loan is not available through the search, please contact the Office of Financial Aid for manual processing of your promissory note.
- Review and submit your loan application online.
You may click E-Sign to sign MPNs for lenders that accept electronic signatures.
If this is your first student loan, you must print and mail both pages of your Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note. Mail one complete promissory note (both first and second pages) to your lender as soon as possible. Keep one copy for your records.
- Sign, date and mail one copy of your printed Master Promissory Note to your lender. Your lender will not release funds for your loan until it has received the signed MPN from you. If you already have an MPN through your University you may not have to mail in another note.
