Michelle Payne

Michelle Payne, Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science, obtained a B.S. in Political Science and Legal Studies in 1996, M.Ed in 1997 and a Juris Docturate  in 1999, all from Texas Wesleyan University. Ms. Payne, Political Science (Public Law/ American Government) Ph.D. candidate at the University of North Texas, came to Texas Wesleyan University as an adjunct professor in 1998.
Professor Payne’s course load includes Judicial Process, American Government, Legislative Process, Constitutional Law I & II, Political Theory, Political Parties and Pressure Groups, Scopes and Methods of Political Science Research, Moot Court, Critical and Logical Reasoning, and Ethical Thinking for the Professions. Professor Payne area of expertise is judicial politics and constitutional law and theory.
Professor Payne has served in various capacities at Texas Wesleyan University, including student sponsor and coach for Ethic Bowl and Moot Court competitions through the Pre-Professional Program. She is a State Steering Committee member for T.U.M.C.A., the Texas moot court collegiate association, and an active member of the A.C.M.C.A., the national (American) collegiate moot court association. Professor Payne is also well-versed in regional and national Ethic Bowl competition and serves as advisor to participating teams from Texas Wesleyan.  Her travels include the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, Central Europe and the Middle East. Professor Payne’s expertise and familiarity with the legal arena and constitutional law exercises reflect her sincere commitment to the preparation of Wesleyan students for graduate school, professional careers and service.
