A Professor of Marketing at Texas Wesleyan University attended the International Society of Business Disciplines Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, November 2006.  Dr. Hart served as a session chair and presented her research paper: Strengthening Rules Governing Advertisement by Lawyers: The Texas Process.

Dr. Kalpana Pai and Dr. Sameer Vaidya

Presented a paper titled “Glass Ceiling: Role of Women in the Corporate World” at the Annual Conference of the American Society for Competitiveness, November 10, 2006.  Published in the refereed, Cabell’s listed Competition Forum.  Presenting a paper titled “Is Student Cheating related to Cheating in the Real World?” at the Annual National Decision Sciences Institute Conference in San Antonio, TX on November 21, 2006.

Dr. Kalpana Pai

Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance in the School of Business, will be attending the Teaching Innovations Program (TIP) in Economics at Santa Barbara this month. The project is co-sponsored by the American Economic Association and the National Science Foundation. In March, she presented her paper titled “The Impact of Educational Attainment on Labor Market Outcomes” at the National Business and Economics Society Conference in Puerto Rico. She also presented a paper co-authored with Sibel Kaya from Florida State University “How does Teacher Quality Impact Math and Science Performance?: Evidence from TIMSS 2003” in April at the American Educational Research Association Conference at Chicago.

Presented a paper titled “International Joint Ventures: An Integrated Framework” at the Annual Conference of the American Society for Competitiveness, November 10, 2006.  Published in the refereed, Cabell’s listed Competition Forum.  Paper has been invited to be published in the Journal of Global Competitiveness.

Dr. Vaidya also presented his paper, "Leadership in India: A Research Proposal", at the Midwest Academy of International Business, in March 2007.

Dr. Bell's submission "Benfits vs. Burdens: With Respect to IT Audting (SAS 70 Reporting) - An Organizational Change Perspective for the Web" was accepted for presentation at the 2008 Federation of Business Disciplines conference to be held in Houston, Texas, March 5 to March 8, 2008.

  Dr. Sandra Hart

Professor of Marketing

Dr. Hart  presented: "Self-Regulation of Legal Advertising in Texas: Similarities and Implications for the Eurpoean Union", at the International Conference on Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, sponodored by the Athens Insitute for Education and Research, August 6-9, 2007 in Athens, Greece. In addition to her presentation, she chaired a session on Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management.

This conference was interdisciplinary discussing business issues affecting small and medium sized businesses. In addition to the actual program the conference encouraged interaction through a Greek dinner with traditional dances, a visit to three islands and a trip to an archeological site in Marathon. The conference site also allowed her to visit museums, the ancient ruins in Athens and actually walk where Socarates and Plato once walked. Amazing!

Dr. Pai had two submissions accepted for presentation at the 2008 Federation of Business Disciplines conference to be held in Houston, Texas, March 5 to March 8, 2008 entitled "Public Accounting Firms: Do consumers Really Have a Choice" (co-author Dr. Tom Tolleson) and "Mentor Characteristics or Gender: What Matters Most?" (co-author Dr. Sameer Vaidya)

  Dr. Tom Smith

Dr. Smith participated in the International Society of Business Disciplines Conference, March 30 to April 1, 2008, in Las Vegas Nevada.  Dr. Smith, along with Wesleyan graduate student Jamie Phillips co-presented: "A Growth Service Industry: Cross Cultural Training".  Dr. Hart is a co-author of this paper.

  Dr. Thomas D. Tolleson

Presentations

A professor of accounting, recently attended the American Accounting Association's Annual Meeting conducted this year in Chicago, Illinois, August 4 through August 8, 2007.  While at the meeting, Professor Tolleson presented an Effective Learning Strategy entitled "Excel Spin Buttons: Visual Enhancement of Accounting and Financial Concepts."  The paper was coauthored with Professor Kay Guess of St. Edward's Univeristy in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Tolleson had a submission accepted for presentation at the 2008 Federation of Business Disciplines conference to be held in Houston, Texas, March 5 to March 8, 2008 entitled "Public Accounting Firms: Do consumers Really Have a Choice" (co-author Dr. Kalpana Pai).
